The Laboratory was created as a joint initiative of the faculties:
- Faculty of Metals Engineering and Industrial Computer Science
- Faculty of Non-Ferrous Metals
- Faculty of Materials Science and Ceramics
The research infrastructure in the Laboratory was co-financed by the Excellence Initiative - Research University project, Action 8, in the competition "Co-financing the purchase of modern scientific research infrastructure", POB 7: Design, production, and testing of modern materials and technologies of the future.
